CEDPA mourns Pablo Manuel MagazCEDPA mourns the loss of our dear friend Pablo Manuel Magaz, a passionate and tireless advocate on behalf of people living with HIV and AIDS in the United States and globally. Pablo dedicated more than 20 years of his life to ensuring that PLWHA and other disenfranchised groups had access to the services and treatment that would guarantee their quality of life. He was CEDPA’s Senior HIV/AIDS Technical Advisor from 2003 to 2005.
He proved as deeply committed to improving the lives of women in developing countries as he was to the men, women and children of the United States. His career included key positions in major domestic and international HIV/AIDS organizations including the National Minority AIDS Council, the Latino Lesbian and Gay Organization, the Health Resources Services Administration/HHS, and most recently at CEDPA. Pablo had many special gifts. His passion was contagious, his sense of humor was infectious and his ability to connect with people of all backgrounds was remarkable. He was loved by all who knew him and respected by those whose lives he touched. His friends and colleagues at CEDPA will miss him deeply. |

Among other accomplishments, Pablo co-founded the Connecticut Positive Action Coalition, an organization committed to the full and meaningful involvement of positive persons in advocacy and policy making, and the Connecticut AIDS Action Council, which promotes multi-sectoral support for adequate funding and other responses to the epidemic.
