Webcast: WRAI’s National Safe Motherhood Event in India   
April 11, 2008—Today, maternal health advocates joined ministers, parliamentarians and celebrities to commemorate National Safe Motherhood Day and launch the “Deliver Now for Women and Children” campaign in India. The campaign calls for action on behalf of the more than 100,000 women in India who die in pregnancy and childbirth each year. It will build political will to ensure delivery of services and raise awareness of the simple, cost-effective health interventions that could improve maternal health. The April 11 launch was sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, and the White Ribbon Alliance of India, which is convened by CEDPA/India.
