CEDPA Appoints Ejiro J. Otive-Igbuzor Country Representative of Nigeria Office
Dr. Otive-Igbuzor is a human right activist and expert on governance, HIV/AIDS, reproductive health and education in Nigeria. She has more than 15 years of leadership with United Nations, government and non-governmental organizations. Her management and programmatic experience includes strategic planning, budget analysis, monitoring and evaluation, gender mainstreaming, advocacy, social mobilization and policy formulation. As the new Country Representative for Nigeria, Dr. Otive-Igbuzor will build on CEDPA’s long history of work with women’s leaders, community institutions and faith-based organizations to improve the lives of women and girls in that country. CEDPA is an internationally recognized non-profit organization with country offices in Egypt, Guatemala, India, Nepal, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa. Headquartered in Washington, DC, CEDPA’s programs increase educational opportunities for girls, ensure access to lifesaving reproductive health information and services, and strengthen women’s ability to become leaders in their communities and nations. CEDPA has a growing network of 5,000 alumni and partners from 146 countries around the world. Prior to joining CEDPA, Dr. Otive-Igbuzor worked with the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) as the gender and HIV/AIDS program coordinator, and the lead monitoring and evaluation manager for Anglophone West Africa. Because of her expertise, she has provided leadership in the development of several national-level HIV/AIDS policies in Nigeria, including in the education, workplace and paramilitary sectors. Dr. Otive-Igbuzor has worked as a lecturer and writer, and has been an executive director of a women’s organization in Nigeria.
