Position: Workshop Intern, WomenLead

Location: Washington, D.C.

Reports to: Deputy Director, Leadership and Capacity Building Division

Dates of Internship: August 24 – October 2, 2009: Monday through Friday (8:30am -5:00pm)

Stipend for Training: This is an unpaid position

No. of Interns: 2

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in sociology, anthropology, international education, African or Asian studies, public health, management or other area of relevant study.
  • Fluency in Spanish/French is a plus.
  • Ability to work with other cultures and strong English communication skills are crucial.
  • Strong typing skills, proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and other Microsoft applications.

Intern Responsibilities:

The main responsibility of the intern is to function as a member of the Capacity Building team to plan for, conduct and support the workshop. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Participate in team planning meetings.
  • Provide assistance to workshop facilitators with materials and equipment before, during, and after training sessions.
  • Assist in preparing and hosting receptions and other special events during the workshop.
  • Maintain the meeting space by organizing and preparing flip charts for facilitators, arranging chairs/tables, etc.
  • Set up and maintain files for each workshop session that includes session design, handouts, intern’s notes, evaluation forms, and analyses.
  • Coordinate distribution, collection, and analysis of session evaluations with participant evaluation teams; analyze daily and overall workshop evaluations.
  • Accompany participants on Saturday tours, outside institutional visits, field trips.
  • Attend and take notes during training sessions. Laptop will be provided.
  • Draft final workshop report
  • Other responsibilities relating to training programs as assigned by Capacity Building team.
