Position: Intern, Public Health
Location: Kathmandu, Nepal
Reports to: Project Director, CEDPA/Nepal
General: CEDPA is looking for a summer intern to assist our Nepal team in implementing a project entitled “Expanding Voluntary Use of Contraceptives in the Central Terai Region of Nepal.” The objective of the project is to strengthen the delivery and use of Family Planning/Maternal and Child Health services at the household and community levels through peer education, social mobilization, and advocacy. This project supports the government’s goal of reducing poverty by expanding access to community-level family health services for disadvantaged groups.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Public Health, International Development, International Relations, Business, Public Administration, etc.).
- Special interest in Family Planning, Reproductive Health, Safe Motherhood.
- At least one year experience working in community health/social research.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as ability to work with diverse staff at CEDPA’s headquarters and in the field.
- Demonstrated ability to be a problem-solver and manage follow-up as necessary.
- Must possess excellent multi-task capabilities; be well-organized and responsive, with ability to set priorities.
- Excellent multicultural, teamwork, and partnering skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with project implementation including social mobilization and advocacy;
- Documentation support;
- Assist with report writing and editing;
- Other duties as assigned.
This is an unpaid internship and candidate is responsible for funding her/his transportation to Kathmandu. CEDPA/Nepal will assist intern with finding accommodation in Kathmandu for duration of the internship.

Position: Leadership and Capacity-Building Intern (updated 07/16/2008)
Location: Washington, DC
Reports to: Deputy Director, Leadership and Capacity Building Division
Dates of Internship: July 21 – August 22, 2008
Stipend: $64/day
Number of Positions: One
Qualifications:
- The candidate should have completed at least 3 semesters’ course work in a US university in sociology, anthropology, international education, African or Asian studies, public health, management, or other areas of relevant study.
- Experience working in a team environment is preferred.
- Ability to organize information from reports and good writing skills is important.
- The candidates should have proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and other Microsoft applications.
- Working knowledge of SPSS is highly desirable but not required.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Function as member of the Capacity Building team to assist in coaching program.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Review and tabulate the information from the quarterly report of 5 workshops
- Write a summary of the quarterly report for coach advisor and other team members based on CEDPA template.
- Document highlights and problems encountered from the coaching program.
- Create folders for coach profiles and client profiles.
- Update the coach database.
- Assist in pre-post survey data analysis including coding the survey forms and data-entry.
- Provide assistance to LCB staff members with coping materials and filing documents.
- Other responsibilities relating to coaching programs as assigned by Capacity Building team.
A computer will be provided.
